If you are seeking a meaningful and personalized secular (also known as 'civil' or 'civic' or 'non-religious') legal wedding ceremony, which reflects your values and wishes, please contact the licensed Humanist officiants who are listed below.

Each of these officiants is certified by Humanist Canada or the Ontario Humanist Society, and licensed by the Registrar General of Ontario to provide legal wedding services in the Province of Ontario. Our officiants are members of the Humanist Association of Toronto.

Non-religious wedding, funeral, and child-naming ceremonies have been available in the Toronto area since June of 1997. The officiants below also offer coming-of-age ceremonies and other celebrations. All of our officiants perform same-sex marriages.

What Is A Humanist Officiant?

A Humanist Officiant is licensed by the province of Ontario for the purpose of performing legal marriages. He or she is required to be a member of Humanist Canada, or the Ontario Humanist Society, provide five references (three of which must come from Humanists), and pass a course developed and offered by the Ceremonies' Committee of the board of HC or OHS. Collectively, our officiants have performed thousands of ceremonies.

The officiant pays an annual licensing fee and membership and is fully responsible for all costs incurred by providing the service (advertising, office supplies, correspondence, etc.) There is no salary from HC, HAT or OHS for this work, and the officiant is welcome to keep the honoraria offered by clients.

The officiants have no legal relationship with the local association, and officiants are adherents to the Ethical Codes established by each Humanist Association.
